Summary
Anthony Michael Hall has confirmed that he will not be reprising hisBosch: Legacyseason 2 role as Special Agent Will Barron for the upcoming season 3. Barron was the leader of a task force investigating Harry Bosch’s involvement in the death of Carl Rogers, a key point of contention during the latest season. WhileBosch: Legacyseason 2 endswith setup for a darker, more morally gray follow-up, it was unclear if Barron would continue to be a recurring figure for the main character to contend with.
Speaking withMoviefoneabout his Netflix action movieTrigger Warning, Hall confirmed thathe will not be reprising his role as Agent Barron in the forthcomingBosch: Legacyseason 3.The actor said that, although he would have liked to continue in his role on the show, he’s still appreciative of working with author and creator Michael Connelly on the series. Check out what Hall had to say below:

Well, apparently, I don’t think I’m going to be returning on ‘Bosch: Legacy’. It was interesting. It ended the season in a cliffhanger, so I thought there might be an opportunity, but it didn’t play out like that. But again, it was a pleasure to work with those guys. I love Michael Connelly. I mean, they gave me a great opportunity there. I was playing a lead FBI investigator going after him, as you recall.
What Hall’s Absence Means For Bosch: Legacy Season 3
Season 3 Is Setting The Stage For A Dark Turn Of Events
Although Hall won’t be coming back as Barron in the upcoming episodes, the setup for what comes next indicates the show is going in a very new direction. Following Kurt Dockweiler’s conviction for kidnapping Bosch’s daughter, Maddie, the perpetrator dies of a drug overdose while in prison. However, the show hints that the main character was responsible for killing him, setting the stage for a darkerBosch: Legacyseason 3, especially if the secret of what really happened to the kidnapper gets revealed.
Because the upcoming season will likely see Bosch trying to ensure nobody finds out how Dockweiler really died,Hall’s absence from season 3 will leave a void someone else is going to have to fill.Since Barron was always going after the show’s protagonist out of suspicion he was involved in a murder, this actual murder could have made for an interesting dynamic between the pair. However, with the Special Agent not coming back for the upcoming episodes, it means an intriguing potential storyline is left hanging.

Despite Hall’s absence from season 3, though,Bosch: Legacyis still setting up many intriguing storylines to broaden the series' horizons. One major development will be theintroduction of Renée Ballard(Maggie Q), who will be leading her own spinoff later down the road. Someone from Bosch’s past also called Maddie at the end of season 2, meaning even more dynamic stories are on the way. Even so, Hall’s absence will be felt moving forward, especially because of the story potential his continued involvement could have brought.
Hall’s next major TV role is for Prime Video’sReacherseason 3, where he’ll be portraying suspicious rug dealer Zachary Beck.
