Alongside the captivating story, this issue features phenomenal BatCat art, including a variant cover by Guillem March that shows Selina Kyle playfully donning the Batman costume. While this art may be purely for visual enjoyment, it could also hint at potential plots and story arcs in the works.

Catwoman Dons Batman’s Cape and Cowl, Becoming Gotham’s Next Dark Knight in Stunning Cover Art

March’s variant cover showcases Catwoman crouched atop one of Batman’s gear cabinets, donning what appears to be an early version of the cape and cowl, indicated by its blue coloring and cloth-like texture. Aside from the cape and cowl, Selina is dressed in her typical skin-tight bodysuit as she looms over Bruce, who is in the midst of suiting up, already adorned in most of his modern-day Batsuit. Both characters sport subtle smiles, hinting at their awareness of each other’s presenceand creating a playful atmosphere. In the background, various cowls andyellow utility beltsare on display.

While it’s apparent that Selina isn’t earnestly preparing to become Batman, it does prompt the intriguing question of what circumstances might lead her to assume her lover’s heroic mantle one day.For Selina to adopt the Batman identity, several conditions would likely need to align. First, Bruce would have to be dead or incapacitated. Second, all ofBatman’s former and current Robins—Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, and Damian Wayne—would also need to be dead or out of commission. Third, there would need to be a compelling reason for the need of a “Batman” figure to return.

Does March’s Variant Cover Tease Zdarsky Pulling a Daredevil/Elektra with Batman and Catwoman?

While it’s improbable, Zdarsky could be laying the groundwork for a story arc in hisBatmanrun reminiscent of his work onDaredevil, where Elektra took on Matt Murdock’s mantle inDaredevil#25 (2019). With Matt incarcerated and Elektra seeking his assistance in reforming The Fist to combat The Hand, she assumed the role of Daredevil and safeguarded Hell’s Kitchen to gain his trust (which she did successfully). Therefore, March’s variant cover could potentially be hinting that Zdarsky has forthcoming plans to explore a similar narrative withBatmanandCatwoman.

Batman #151will be released on June 02, 2025, from DC Comics!
