This post contains a PREVIEW for Star Wars: Darth Vader #47

Summary

Darth Vaderis facing even more Summa-verminoths in theStar Warscanon, and this time may truly be an epic showdown. Having returned to Palpatine’s secret Sith world of Exegol, Vader and his new allies known as the Schism Imperial are seeking new sources of power to destroy the Emperor himself. However, Palpatine’s greatest defense for his world are these terrifying Summa-verminoths, massive deep space creatures that live in the galaxy’s Red Honeycomb, also known as the Blood Net.

As seen in the new preview forDarth Vader #47by Greg Pak and Raffaele Ienco,Vader has successfully raided Palpatine’s Sith Citadelin search of a massive piece of corrupted red kyber. Having slain several of Palaptine’s Sith Eternal cultists, the surviving members are summoning what appears to be several Summa-verminoths from the nearby Red Honeycomb Zone, the ring of hyperspace anomalies that makes Exegol so hard to reach in the Unknown Regions. As such, it seems as though Vader may have to finally slay one of these powerful creatures in theStar Warstimeline:

Although Vader intends to leave the MAR Corps as a sacrifice for the Summa-verminoths and their powerful psychic attacks, it probably won’t be enough. One can imagine that they’ll likely be drawn to the Dark Lord himself before he and his forces manage to make it back to the known galaxy, forcing an epic showdown.

Star Wars Movies In Order: How To Watch Release Order, Chronologically & With The TV Shows

What’s the best way to watch Star Wars? Here’s everything you need to know to watch in release or timeline order, and how to include the TV shows.

Darth Vader Once Tamed A Summ-Verminoth On Exegol

Seeking To Destroy His Master

When the Dark Lord first came to Exegol in the immediate wake ofEmpire Strikes Back,Darth Vader did face a Summa-verminoth. Having first been featured inSolo: A Star Wars Storyduring the Kessel Run, the Summa-verminoths populating Exegol are an off-shoot that evolved the ability to psychically attack their prey.Nevertheless, Vader’s will proved stronger, having tamed one of the beasts to aid in his attack against Palpatine who was waiting for his apprentice on the Sith throneworld. However, not even the combined might of Vader riding atop one of these great monsters was enough to defeat his master.

Now, it seems as though Vader will finally be forced to slay one of these massive creatures. There’s no way the Dark Lord will willingly give up his recently acquired kyber, nor will he be content with his forces being decimated either ahead of his plans to overthrow his master. To that end,it stands to reason that the fullStar Warsissue will feature Vader taking on one or more Summa-verminoths himself, seeing as how he stands the greatest chance of actually surviving the encounter.

Vader’s Plans Against Palpatine Have Greatly Expanded

Amassing Power Before Return of the Jedi

Seeing how large kyber crystals are what powered the Death Star, one can only imagine what Vader has planned for such a large piece of corrupted red kyber. Likewise, he also has both the Schism Imperial and an advanced droid army at his disposal, along with a new kind of power source taken by draining the energies of an entire planet. As such, it seems as though it will only be a matter of time before Darth Vader is ready to move against his master, though it will likely be the last time as the events ofReturn of the Jedicontinue to get closer.
