Though Hudson Thames, not Tom Holland, will be playing Peter Parker in the series, it will feature Charlie Cox reprising his role as Daredevil.

Screen Rantis excited to reveal keyYour Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Mannews—namely that the series has tapped composers Zach Robinson and Leo Birenberg to provide a musical score. The composers, known in part for injecting their scores with the most fun aspects of different musical genres, wrote a score influenced by everything from anime to lo-fi hip hop. Here’s what Birenberg and Robinson had to say about joining the project:

Leo Birenberg and Zach Robinson: We are beyond stoked to be a part of this standout entry in the MCU. Jeff Trammell, Mel Zwyer, and the rest of the team at Marvel could not have been better collaborators, and we are beyond grateful to them for letting us go absolutely wild on this score.

Where You’ve Heard Zach Robinson & Leo Birenberg Before

Odds are, you’ve heard the music of Robinson and Birenberg before. They’ve composed the music for theKarate Kidsequel seriesCobra Kaisince 2018, and will see that series through to its end this year. For that series, they paired modern dramatic scoring with over-the-top ‘80s rock guitar and synthesizers, staying true toKarate Kid’s 1984 origin while servicing the long-awaited return of its characters. They also re-teamed withCobra Kaishowrunners Josh Heald, Hayden Schlossberg, and Jon Hurwitz for their raunchy action comedyObliterated, for which they incorporated heavy electronic instruments to match the show’s Las Vegas setting.

The pair are also no strangers to tackling fantastical IP, as evidenced by their score for Peacock’sTwisted Metal. For that series, the composers brought in elements of nu-metal, shoegaze, and post-rock, bringing the spirit of the iconic video game series’ signature mayhem to their music. During aninterview withScreen RantforTwisted Metal, Robinson said the following, which applies to many of their projects and makes their involvement withYour Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Manparticularly exciting:

Zach Robinson: That’s what we do best, I think: we can take elements that you don’t normally hear in film music and then apply them [to scores.]

The pair’s Emmy win (and Grammy nomination) came from an even weirder project—specificallyWeird: The Al Yankovic Story, a fictionalized retelling of the iconic parody singer and songwriter’s life. For that, of course, they incorporated Yankovic’s signature instrument—an accordion—into the score. Whatever unique combination of sounds and influences forms the musical backdrop ofYour Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man,odds are Birenberg and Robinson are going to bring something exciting, fun, and very much additive to the series.
