Florida man arrested after breaking into restaurant to charge Tesla
A Florida man has been arrested after a bizarre break-in where he allegedly drove through a restaurant in an attempt to charge hisTesla.
The Martin County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that 23-year-old Evan Scott Bobal of Palm Beach County was arrested on June 19, weeks after he reportedly broke into Harry and the Natives in Hobe Sound.
Surveillance footage from the early hours of May 26 showed a man moving patio furniture inside the restaurant, unplugging a soda dispenser, and attempting to drag an EV charger inside to access a power outlet.
“He unplugged the soda dispenser and then tried to back in here,” owner Harry MacArthur toldWPTV. “Then he hit that post and the planter up there.”

While Bobal fled the scene, he made one critical mistake — he left behind his Tesla charger. This led the restaurant’s Facebook page to mock the suspect for turning their patio into a makeshift charging station.
“Thanks so much for rearranging our patio furniture, creatively wedging your car between the tiki hut pillars, and unplugging our fridge. Very bold of you — especially considering we’re CLOSED every Monday, but always watching,” theyjoked.
“The real kicker? You left behind your Tesla charger. While we appreciate the gift, we don’t own a Tesla — so feel free to come pick it up at Martin County Sheriff’s Department, and they’d love to chat with you — especially about trespassing and property damage.”
Investigators traced the serial number back to his vehicle. Deputies obtained a search warrant and executed it on his residence, leading to his arrest for burglary and attempted theft.

Next time, instead of breaking into a business to charge an electric car, Bobal may want to consider booking one of Elon Musk’snew self-driving ‘Robotaxis’ instead.
