While the later movies in the series become quite dark as Harry’s fight against Voldemort intensifies, the franchise retains a sense of magical wonder throughout that has been key to its success.

A new AI-generated video shared byMilan Jaram Creationson Instagram imagines Burton putting his own spin on theHarry Potterfranchise, and the result is a wildly different version of the Wizarding World. Check it out below:

The video imagines Burton telling his ownHarry Pottertale in spot motion, using a visual style similar to that of his 2005 film,Corpse Bride. Included in the video are characters like Harry, Ron, Hermione, Dobby, Snape, Draco, Luna, and more, with each one sporting a very different look from what audiences are familiar with.

Would A Tim Burton Harry Potter Movie Work?

There’s One Movie In The Franchise That Seems Ripe For A Tim Burton Reimagining

A number of directors have brought theHarry Pottermovies to life, but all are playing in the same sandbox. There are individual stylistic flourishes throughout the eight films in the saga, but they still feel like parts of a bigger whole due to the returningHarry Pottercastmembers and persistent style and story elements. If Burton were to direct a film in Harry’s saga, it probably would be too much of an outlier from the othersto totally make sense, especially if he opted to do the whole thing in stop-motion rather than in live-action.

Harry’s story is now set to be remade in the form of theHarry PotterTV showfor Max.

Collage of Fantastic Beasts and Harry Potter movie characters

That being said, the Wizarding World does feel ripe, in many ways, for a Burton reimagining. Burton is a director known for his unique visual style and his movies all have idiosyncratic tones and often very odd characters. He would, then, be best suited to more of a standaloneHarry Pottermovie, rather than one as part of a larger saga. The best Wizarding World story that would fit Burton’s style is arguablyFantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

The Fantastic Beasts movie characters are intertwined with Rowling’s established Harry Potter canon, and here’s every related character explained.

Taking place decades before Harry’s birth,Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Themfollows wizard Newt Scamander as he travels to New York City to retrieve various magical creatures. The film features an abundance of interesting creatures that Burton could easily put a twisted spin on, and the story could be made to be relatively standalone. It seems unlikely that Burton will ever direct aHarry Pottermovie, but the video above certainly suggests it would be an interesting departure for the franchise.

Harry Potter

Harry Potter is a multimedia franchise about an orphaned boy who enrolls at Hogwarts School of Wizardry, where he learns the truth about himself, his family, and the terrible evil that haunts the magical world. Adapted from the novels, Harry Potter is an eight-episode film saga that follows the journey of Harry Potter and his friends, Hermoine Granger and Ron Weasley, as they navigate the tricky world of growing up, school life, and magic. Starting from year one and moving to their seventh year, the films chronicle the students' time at Hogwarts while unfurling a sinister plot that centers around the unsuspecting Harry. With the return of the dark wizard, Voldemort, the students and professors at Hogwarts will fight to carry on as the world around them may change forever. Harry Potter has expanded beyond the world of its films and novels with several video games, a spin-off film series titled Fantastic Beasts, and even attractions at Universal Studios.
