Reddit’sfan community dedicated to the comic book seriesInvincibleand its Amazon adaptation, /r/Invincible, hosted co-creator Ryan Ottley for an AMA with fans. Amid questions about his best moments working on the series, one fan asked Ottley which battle was his favorite. Ottley revealed that he really enjoyed working onthe fight scene between Grand Regent Thragg and Battle Beast.

Ottley credits fellowInvincibleco-creatorRobert Kirkman’s idea tocheck in on the fight over multiple issues, which Ottley says “implied a months long fight”. He also described the ending as “tragic but so impactful”.
Invincible’sCo-Creator Loved the Thragg vs. Battle Beast Fight
With well over a hundred issues, Invincible has an incredible number of fight scenes. But few are as drawn-out or as violent as the one between the leader of the Viltrum Empire and the ferocious fighter Battle Beast. Beginning inInvincible #115, Battle Beast confronts Thragg on the planet Thraxa to kill the Viltrumite. For over five issues, Battle Beast and Thragg have a brutal, bloody fight that lasts an indeterminate amount of time in which both of them take on heavy damage. However, the fight finally comes to an end when Thragg crushes Battle Beast’s heart.
Ottley is speaking the truth when he mentions how impactful the fight scene was. Aside from the fact that this is one of the biggest examples of just how overwhelmingly strong the series' central antagonist is, it also serves as a swan song for Battle Beast. ThroughoutInvincible, Battle Beast mentions he wants nothing more than a worthy fight that challenges him. Fans of the television series may recall how disappointed he was after his fight withInvinciblein season one.If Battle Beast’s fight is anything like the comics, then both he and viewers are in for a surprise.

Comic Fans Know Just How Brutal ThisInvincibleFight Is
Television fans have seen a lot of gory fights inInvincible’sadaptation so far. But this battle scene is so long, so intense and so bloody it makes everything from the show’s first two seasons look weak by comparison. Battle Beast and Thragg’s fight is one between the series’ two most violent and blood-thirsty characters and it shows in every page of the comic. Assuming the series wants to remain as faithful as possible to theInvinciblecomics, television fans can expect absolute chaos when Ryan Ottley’s favorite fight is adapted.
