Some fans would be delighted for the action-packed shonen manga series to continue forever, but its creator has made it abundantly clear that that will not be the case. The talented creator, Gege Akutami, revealed thathe planned on ending the series sometime in 2024, likely during the fall or winter season of this year.

To some, this may come as a disappointment, knowing that such a well-loved and intriguing story will be drawing to a close soon. Surprisingly,Jujutsu Kaisenending soon may actually be the greatest gift Akutami could offer to readers of the manga series, though.

Jujutsu Kaisen Is Slated to End Sometime in 2024, According to Creator

No Official Ending Date Has Been Confirmed, but It Will Likely Be Fall or Winter of 2024

One of the most important parts of any good story is the ending, making it necessary for creators to realize when it’s time for a story to arrive at its natural conclusion.Jujutsu Kaisenhas been showing the “final” battle between the heroes and Sukuna for a long time (in the manga), and it’s safe to think that once this is over, the series will conclude soon. Many great series unfortunately dragged out longer than they should’ve, which led to a decrease in quality. This means that ifJujutsu Kaisenends soon, this may actually be a true blessing andthe perfect ending to what has been a fantastic series.

TheJujutsu Kaisenanime is pretty unique in that it does not contain filler episodes. Some other series, such asNaruto, for example, have been plagued by this due to having to wait for the manga to release new chapters. Filler is often considered to be annoying and taking away from the action, but some people genuinely enjoy it and appreciate the character development and breaks from the larger story that filler can provide.

Either way,Jujutsu Kaisenhas always been incredibly focused on the story andnever really deviates from the main plot. This happened because the manga is not actually that long (compared to other major spoilers) and the narrative is very compressed, which turned out to be perfect for the anime. This would make it even harder for Akutami to drag out the manga indefinitely, since he cannot simply add in filler moments.

Akutami Has Revealed That He Already HasJujutsu Kaisen’sEnding Planned

The Talented Creator Is Definitely Following a Planned Trajectory for the Series’ End

Akutami hasalso admitted that he alreadyknows howJujutsu Kaisenis going to end, long before that time ever comes. Since he has a goal in mind for the story’s finale, it would not make sense for him to continue the story any longer than is necessary.Jujutsu Kaisenis very intentionally written, with every death, battle, and interaction pushing the story towards its conclusion and further developing the characters and plot. Although many will be sad to see the series go, it is more important for Akutami to properly carry out the storyline he has created.

Especially as of late,Jujutsu Kaisenhas been absolutelyfilled with brutals deaths. Main characters are dropping like flies in every chapter, and one of the most horrifying and difficult for fans wasthe loss of Gojo Satoru. Although not the main character, Gojo is the fan-favorite sorcerer who added much-needed humor and charm to the series. His death marked a turning point inJujutsu Kaisen, giving him a chance to “pass the torch"to his successors, Yuji Itadori and Yuta Okkotsu. Gojo was not the only monumental death though. At this point, Yuji has lost nearly everyone close to him.

The Abundance of Deaths inJujutsu KaisenIs Setting the Stage for Yuji’s Victory

Yuji Now Has No Choice But To Stand Alone and Independently Achieve Victory

The loss Yuji has suffered is truly heartbreaking, but necessary to his character development and rolein the story. Thedeaths of mentors like Gojo and Nanamiand friends like Nobara strengthened his resolve and sparked his anger at the cruel cursed spirits responsible, making him a stronger sorcerer. By taking these other characters out of the story, Akutami also effectively placed a spotlight on Yuji, making him virtually the only hero capable of stopping Sukuna. By controversially killing off so many characters, Akutami has given Itadori the most important job of all, as the one to hopefully kill the King of Curses.

The true ending ofJujutsu Kaisenis obviously unknown to anyone but Akutami, butYuji killing Sukuna himself would be an excellent choiceas he is the protagonist and has witnessed Sukuna unfairly murder so many of his comrades. The story seems to be steadily creeping towards this point, and although some fans are hopeful thatJujutsu Kaisencould drag on for years to come, this would actually negatively impact the story.

Jujutsu Kaisen Revealed What Yuji Had To Sacrifice To Beat Sukuna, And It’s Brutally Perfect

Yuji Itadori will have to sacrifice something major to defeat the King of Curses, Sukuna, and it’s brutally fitting.

One thing all the best anime and manga have in common is ending on a high note andJujutsu Kaisenis certainly set to accomplish this goal. Still, with how unpredictable and unconventional the series has been, there is no telling what surprises Gege Akutami has in store forJujutsu Kaisen’s finale.
