Netflix CEO says podcasts will “find their way” on platform as it looks to sign YouTubers
Netflix is looking to add podcasts to its growing arsenal of content as the streaming platform has its sights set on bringing YouTubers onboard.
With more and more content creators entering the mainstream,Netflixis looking to bring them on board as part of its new strategy.

Previous reports have indicated that Netflix was exploring deals with podcasters, but now it appears that we have confirmation.
On April 17, Netflix held its quarterly earnings call, where the topic of podcasts coming to the streamer was brought up and if they’d work on the platform.

Netflix eyes signing content creators to bring podcasts to platform
According to Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos, it wouldn’t be a big surprise if video podcasts come to the platform eventually.
“As the popularity of video podcasts grows, I suspect you’ll see some of them find their way to Netflix,” hesaid.

Sarandos further added that the “lines are getting blurry” between what contitutes podcasts and talk shows.
This comment comes days after the CEO claimed MrBeastwouldn’t have lost $80 millionon YouTube if he was making content on Netflix instead. Furthermore, he stated that YouTube is ideal for creators to develop an idea before being brought to the streamer.

We have already begun to see this strategy applied, too. In April, comedy podcast Kill Tonybroke its 12-year streakof uploading its weekly show to YouTube for the first of three Netflix specials.
Additionally, in February, Business Insiderreportedthat Netflix was looking to do a deal with ‘Call Her Daddy’ star Alex Cooper, but she ended up signing with SirusXM instead.

YouTube venturing into the podcast game would also put it in direct competition with Spotify, which in 2023 renewed its contract withJoe Roganin a blockbuster dealreportedly worth up to $250M.
