Nintendo Switch 2 indefinitely delayed in China
TheNintendo Switch 2release might be a few more months for those lucky enough to have preordered, but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t had a few major issues since it was fully announced. In fact, those looking to dive intoMario Kart Worldin China may have a few more months, or even longer, to wait.
Despite havinga rather impressive roster of games,enough new specs to get any tech-lover excited, and of course thatbrand new FromSoftware exclusive, the Nintendo Switch 2 has had a rather tricky time in the last few months.
After a major change in US tariffs,Nintendo pulled the pre-orders for the Switch 2 in the US, revealing they had been paused indefinitely. Thankfully, they did confirm that the June 5 release date was unchanged. However, China may not be so lucky.
Nintendo Switch 2 faces delays in China
As originally reported by Nikkei Asia, Nintendo has postponed the release of the Switch 2 in China in an “apparent response to the country’s tight controls targeting the gaming industry.”
On top of this, it was revealed that Nintendo is reportedly delaying the release to help assess demand and analyse those tight controls required to release the console.
Currently, there is no word regarding a release date for the Nintendo Switch 2 in China, as it has been indefinitely delayed.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time a Switch console has had its release postponed in China. Back in 2019, the Nintendo Switch arrived in China, two years after it debuted in Japan and the rest of the world, so it’s entirely possible the same will be happening with its predecessor.
For the original console, Tencent handled its distribution in China, but they have declined to comment to Nikkei when asked if they would be handling the Switch 2’s distribution as well.
