PC modder creates supercharged Steam Deck with RTX 4090
A modder has managed to create a beefy handheld gaming PC with some wild specs that blow the Steam Deck out of the water.
Nowadays, gaming is a lot easier and more convenient than ever. Thanks to handheld consoles and PCs, you can just bring something like anROG Allyor even aSteam Deckand whip it out in public to play whatever you want in your library.
Though, while the idea is practical, these devices come with noticeablelimitations. One such aspect that’s hard to ignore is, of course, how most of them are not as powerful as actual PCs or gaming laptops.
So, when a modder wanted something more from a handheld device, they decided to take matters into their own hands, creating an essentially powerful 4K-capable gaming PC that’s portable. It’s a monster.
Modder creates handheld PC with RTX 4090 laptop GPU
A user who goes by the name Qingchen DIY has revealed his handheld PC gaming-like device over the ChineseBilibiliplatform.
As seen in the video they shared, the result resembles a green handheld device, with a huge 12.5-inch screen, featuring controllers built into the side, which is physically similar to a laptop in some ways.
According to a report fromVideoCardz, this user took anRTX 4090laptop, stripped its internals, and converted them into their own DIY handheld device.
As far as other details go, this device reportedly rocks a Core i9 14900HX CPU inside what appears to be a Tongfang chassis, along with 64GB of DDR5 memory and a 2TB hard drive.
Despite sporting beefy specs, the cooling system appears to keep the heat of the GPU below 160 degrees. No stones unturned here.

In the video, the user also showcased how the device ran several graphically-demanding games. Cyberpunk 2077 was seen running at 60 FPS at 4K with the GPU being at 72ºC, while God of War was able to push above 100 FPS with a similar temperature range.
While it’s obviously impressive, one has to question whether or not the user would get tired from holding up such a chonker of a device for extended periods.
