Chapter 1, “Gods and Monsters,” will kick off Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Universe, and DC Studios already has multiple movies and TV shows in development. Arriving in 2025, the first DC Universe movie will beDavid Corenswet’sSuperman, and production is currently ongoing.
Supermanis said to finish filming in July, so production is nearing completion. While specificSupermanstory details remain under wraps,it is becoming evident that Gunn is looking to give The Daily Planet a crucial role in this reboot. Even thoughSupermanwon’t be an origin story for Clark Kent, it will still center on his early days as the beloved hero, and also as a hard-working journalist. That is also where majorSupermancharacters like Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen come into play, along with Perry White, putting a big spotlight on the people in Clark’s work life.
TheSupermanmovie is also breaking new ground for some of the supporting charactersin the lore, as Cat Grant and Ron Troupe were recently cast for the DC Universe film, making it their cinematic debut. Gunn is also introducing Daily Planet sports reporterSteve Lombard inSuperman. With this many Daily Planet staff members set to star inSuperman, this will mark the first live-action movie based on the Man of Steel to feature Clark, Lois, Jimmy, Perry, Cat, Ron, and Steve all in the same live-action DC production.
Whether or not more glimpses of The Daily Planet will be revealed throughout the rest ofSuperman’s filming process remains to be seen.
