@ProjectSeestrasays, “THE BEAR S3 premiere being called Tomorrow and then trapping Carmy in a series of yesterdays, marinating him in memories of grief and regret and loss, having him flee each time only to end up right back where he started, this time of his own design. Monumental storytelling.”

@JackKennedysays, “Absolute excellence in the first new ep of the Bear. Super atmospheric. Weaving in and out of pseudo prologue 3 seasons deep. Music, shots all fantastic. A++++”

@bwagssays, “The Bear Season 3 opening with Carmy frantically trying to fix everything by writing in a little notebook with a Pilot G2 pen…”

@ShaneRyanHeresays, “Started “The Bear” s3 and had that fear I sometimes get with a new season of a great show, that it will drop off. Took about 90 seconds to remember this one is on an artistic level like no other show I’ve seen and essentially can’t fail. Unreal first ep.”

Why The Bear Season 3, Episode 1 Is So Great

It’s An Unexpected Meditation On Carmy’s Past

AfterThe Bearseason 2 ending, which chronicled the hectic soft opening at the restaurant, audiences may have expected the season 3 premiere to jump straight back into the show’s signature fast-paced and anxiety-including storytelling. However, the season 3 premiere defies expectations with an atmospheric, almost 30-minute masterful montage that marinates Carmy in his memories of grief, regret, and loss. While titled “Tomorrow,” the episode traps Carmy “in a series of yesterdays,” as one viewer puts it.

The Bearseason 3premiere flashes back to Carmy’s time working for renowned chefs at some of the best restaurants in the world, including Chef Terry (Olivia Colman) in Chicago alongside Luca (Will Poulter) and the verbally abusive David Fields (Joel McHale) in New York. At one point, Carmy unknowingly cooks his hamachi with blood orange dish for Sydney which, during the season 1 finale, she describes as the greatest meal she’s ever eaten. However,Carmy flees each situation, but ultimately ends up back where he started at The Bear. However, this time, it’s by his own design.

Don’t Binge The Bear Season 3 (Seriously, I’m Warning You)

The Bear season 3 is one of the most anticipated TV events of the year, but there’s a very good reason you shouldn’t watch it all at once.

The result is a trance-like episode, featuring a droning score by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, that plays like a pseudo prologue for the rest of season 3. In the present, Carmy draws upon these past experiences to create a list of “non-negotiables” for the restaurant to follow, which includes changing the menu every single day. It’s a sign that, even though the restaurant is barely open, Carmy is already flailing and beginning to self-sabotage. It’s an unexpected, yet masterful episode that sets the stage for another great season ofThe Bear.
