Summary
Paramount is planning to expand the world ofAvatar: The Last Airbenderthrough Avatar Studios, andthere’s one prequel story I’m dying to see adapted.Avatar: The Last Airbenderhas no shortage of compelling characters and storylines, so there’s plenty of room to dig deeper into the Nickelodeon show’s world. Avatar Studios already has exciting plans on that front, withupcomingATLAmovies and TV showsreportedly including a sequel about Aang and a project about the next Earth Avatar.
Those projects barely scratch the surface of whatThe Last Airbenderfranchise could become. Zuko’s story is ripe for further exploration, and there are plenty of past Avatars viewers would love to explore in more depth. TheAvatar: The Last Airbenderbooksand comics even cover some of these narratives, meaning there’s ample source material to pull from. But one prequel idea I don’t see talked about deserves consideration as well. In fact,I’m dying to see Paramount dig into thisATLAstory, as it doesn’t get enough attention in the original series.

Every Avatar: The Last Airbender Spinoff (Including Legend Of Korra)
The Avatar: The Last Airbender franchise is about to get a lot bigger, but in the meantime here’s every spinoff the popular show has spawned so far.
I’m Dying To See Paramount Green-Light A Last Airbender Prequel About The White Lotus
Avatar Studios Could Show How The Group Was Formed In A Show Or Movie
While sequels aboutAvatar: The Last Airbender’s main charactersmake sense given their popularity,I’m really hoping Paramount green-lights a prequel centered on the Order of the White Lotus. The White Lotus isn’t officially introduced until Book Three ofATLA,though viewers meet the group’s members over the course of the story. A secret organization run by masters of Bending and other crafts, the White Lotus aids in the fight against the Fire Nation. The group frees Ba Sing Se, an effort organized by its most recognizable members: Uncle Iroh, King Bumi, Jeong Jeong, Master Pakku, and Piandao.
With so little known about the White Lotus, following these characters when they’re younger would also open the door to explore the group and how it came to be.

These are all fascinating characters in their own right, and I have no doubt that their backstories would be fun to dive into.ATLAreveals a fair bit about their pasts, but actually seeing them unfold would be a totally different experience. With so little known about the White Lotus, following these characters when they’re younger would also open the door to explore the group and how it came to be. I can’t be the only one eager to learn more about its history, andthe original Nickelodeon show doesn’t spend enough time on it.
Avatar: The Last Airbender Doesn’t Spend Enough Time On The White Lotus
A Spinoff Would Fully Explore The Organization’s History
Although the members of the White Lotus help save the day inAvatar: The Last AirbenderBook 3, the original series doesn’t spend enough time on the organization. I understand why; with Aang’s confrontation with the Fire Lord arriving, and the fate of the world at stake, there’s little time to go off on tangents. But the mysterious nature of the group isn’t explained inThe Legend of Korra, either, and it leaves viewers wanting to know more about them.A spinoff about the White Lotus could answer questions about the organization at long last, taking us back to the group’s beginnings.
I’d like to see how the Order of the White Lotus transformed, going from a small group playing Pai Sho to a more influential force. A prequel movie or series from Avatar Studios could depict that shift and whatever causes it. The latter could even serve as the spinoff’s main conflict. AnAvatar: The Last Airbenderprequel could also reveal why characters like Iroh and Bumi turn to the group. It’s obvious that they’re masters of Bending, but the original series makes it less clear what drives them to become members in the first place.

Why This ATLA Group Is The Perfect Focus For A Prequel Story
Its Mysterious Nature & Well-Loved Characters Make It An Obvious Choice
The White Lotus is the perfect focus for anAvatar: The Last Airbenderprequelfor two reasons. For one, it’s an old group that’s mostly shrouded in mystery. This is the perfect sort of organization to explore, as Avatar Studios can dig into the White Lotus' whereabouts at various points inATLAhistory. I’d love to see a spinoff with a large scope, allowing it to show the group’s founding, as well as how it evolves over time. This would also enable the series to work in past Avatars, expanding onThe Last Airbender’s world in the process.
This is the perfect sort of organization to explore, as Avatar Studios can dig into the White Lotus' whereabouts at various points inATLAhistory.

Additionally,I can’t help but think that featuring characters like Iroh, Bumi, and Pakku would prove a selling point for a White Lotus prequel. These Bending masters are some of the strongest players to appear in Nickelodeon’s original series, and many of them are well-loved among its fan base. By balancing the history of the White Lotus with their own backstories, Paramount would set a prequel up for success. I just hope the studio comes to see the value in anAvatar: The Last Airbenderspinoff like this one, especially Avatar Studios' other projects do well.
