Summary

One incredibleStar Warscosplay of fan-favorite Sith apprenticeDarth Maullooks as though it was taken right out ofStar Warsmovies and TV showsand may be the closest thing possible to a real-life Sith Lord. Darth Maul was introduced as Darth Sidious' apprentice inStar Wars: Episode I -The Phantom Menace, and while he isn’t high on the list ofStar Wars’most powerful Sith, he’s plenty terrifying. He also managed to do a significant amount of damage, most obviously by taking down Qui-Gon Jinn, who ranked much higher amongStar Wars’most powerful Jedi.

Now, one cosplayer is honoring the belovedStar Warsvillain by masterfully recreating Darth Maul’s look inThe Phantom Menace. Posted to the cosplayer’s Instagram account, theofficialfandommenace, this Darth Maul cosplay really does look like the Sith Lord come to life, down to the very last detail.

A blurred image of Star Wars' TV characters behind Darth Vader

This cosplay is also an excellent reminder of how significant Darth Maul has been to theStar Warsfranchise;his impact has extended far beyond the prequel trilogy, despite it seeming as though that was the end of his story initially.

This One Villain Is The Secret Ingredient To Star Wars' Best TV Episodes - & It’s Not Darth Vader

Several of the best Star Wars TV episodes ever produced contain one iconic franchise villain - and it may come as a surprise to learn who it is.

Darth Maul

Darth Maul was already a very cool character inThe Phantom Menace. Nothing like Maul had ever been seen before inStar Wars, andas the brand-new villain to follow the original trilogy, he certainly did the franchise justice. Of course, one of the character’s best moments was the iconic Duel of the Fates fight between Maul, Qui-Gon Jinn, and Obi-Wan Kenobi. However, it seemed at the time that this fight was Maul’s last, as he presumably died after being chopped in half by Obi-Wan.

Then,Star Wars: The Clone Warsshocked audiences (and delighted many) by revealing that Maul had miraculously survived both having his lower body cut off and a massive fall through a reactor shaft. He reappeared in the show with a newfound vengeance, intent on hunting down and killing Obi-Wan for what he’d done to him. While some other resurrections were less favorable, most notably Emperor Palpatine’s inStar Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,Maul’s was thrilling because it brought back a beloved character whose time was cut short in the franchise.

ThroughoutThe Clone Wars, Maul managed to create even more chaos than he had in the prequel trilogy’s first movie, killing countless people, including Obi-Wan’s shocking love interest Satine Kryze, and taking over Mandalore. Maul even went on to return inStar Wars Rebels, still desperate to kill Obi-Wan, and he made his (seemingly) final live-action appearance inSolo: A Star Wars Story. Given these incredible updates to his character,Darth Maultruly had one of the best arcs inStar Wars, and cosplays such as this one reveal how incredibly beloved the character remains in the franchise.
